Here I am running a catch stitch over my internal seams to keep everything laying nice and flat.

All of my patches are finished with iron-on backing. But in addition to setting them with an iron, I always sew patches down with a zig-zag stitch for added stability.

I love playing with textures and am a magpie for shine (no shortage of either in this Book Jacket). A little bit of motion highlights the nuance of each textile.

The “His Dark Materials” Book Jacket was ordered as a graduation gift from my client, an au pair, to the girl she took care of for 14 years; this is her favorite book series. Aesthetically, I was influenced by 70s British punk and the 90s Riot Grrrl movement. The protagonist of the story would definitely be a punk in our world… Using 70’s style agitprop in a ‘90’s zine format, this book was meant to give the recipient a look into my inspiration and design process.
