At this moment, we are all reflecting on the deep injustices faced by the black community in America. But we can't allow our outrage to dwindle when the news cycle begins its inevitable shift. This cause must be indelibly integrated into our collective consciousness in order to create lasting change. 

Maya Angelou said, "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." Right now, the best I can do is continue to educate myself, talk with anyone who is willing to have an open exchange, be fearless in defense of those around me who feel threatened, and use my skills and resources to raise money in support of this urgent movement.

Some of you have bought my patches in the past because you're fans of the books they represent. You wear them proudly and they tell those around you a little something about yourself. I've designed this iron-on patch with the same idea in mind, to help you show people what we care about. If you are a person of color, I hope this work makes you proud. I hope that seeing someone wearing this makes you feel safe. If you're a person of privilege, I hope you wear this as I plan to - to show your neighbors that you are on their side and see it as a reminder that every day you need to be doing the work.
